I spend close to 10 hours a day on my computer (that's more hours than I sleep, eat, play, talk or reflect each day!). Scary, yes. Anything I can do about it? Not really. But, at least Do Nothing for 2 Minutes offers a simple retreat from the barrage of information on the World Wide Web.
Enter the URL into your browser and you'll be greeted with a beautiful image of the ocean, accompanied by the calming rhythm of waves. The countdown clocks begins and here's the trick... DO NOTHING! Don't touch your mouse, or else the clock will reset! Just sit quietly and look at the imagery and listen to the sound (a forced meditation of sorts). It's actually much harder than it looks - I failed the first two attempts! Give it a shot...

It reminds me of:
"Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering."
— A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)
But even moreso, I think of:
"People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day."
— A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)
Thank you Steve. I love these quotes. Yes, mastering the art of doing nothing is hard. I'm so much more comfortable running at a break-neck speed. But then I do usually end up missing all the little important subtleties that make life so fabulous.
