Spring Blooming

March 21 was the first day of Spring -- I've been opening my eyes to the sound of Cardinals and Chickadees playing in the yard. It's got me thinking about + joyfully anticipating shades of green, new tree buds, and happy petals.  One of the easiest ways to make your space feel bright is to bring the Spring delights inside.  Peonies, Lilies of the Valley, Daffodils, and Hyacinths are among my favorites.

For display, I especially love "found" vases - grab just about anything from around the house or a yard sale find.  Unexpected pieces can be extremely striking and complementary.  The Japanese style of flower arranging, Sogetsu Ikebana, incorporates the idea that you should use whatever is around you to create your arrangement.

Getting creative with natural items is fun -- the eggshells below are so wonderfully delicate and visually communicate new life, new growth.

But most of the time, inspired spontaneity with wild flowers collected on an afternoon jaunt can be the very best...
